August 2002 Guest Book
Kudos for all that's been added under "What's New." Regarding the house identified as having been on the corner of Metropolitan and Brevoort, I believe the location once was the site of a home owned by famous baseball player "Lefty" Gomez. I believe this because it was so rumored when I was a child in the early 1950's, and lived just west of there at 119-37 Metropolitan. I wonder if anyone knows anything about this location and the rumor?

My family moved to Kew Gardens in 1943. I went to P.S. 99 & Forest Hills High. Most of my memories center around the PS 99 schoolyard and friends. I now live in Ky. If you remember, e-mail me.

I used to live in Kew Gardens on 84th Ave & 117st the address was 117-09 84th Ave the house has long been torn down & is now a Senior citizen residence that takes up the whole block

I lived in Kew Gardens from 1950 to 1980. I was back three weeks ago and it brought back memories. I currently live in Florida for 22 years and plan to visit Kew Gardens again real soon.

There is an error in one of your captions for a photo of Metropolitan Avenue. The location in the picture is Metropolitan Avenue between 116th and 118th Streets. This location is STILL in Richmond Hill. I read your page about the location of the boundary between Richmond Hill and Kew Gardens. Congressman Weiner is wrong about many things - the neighborhood border included. If the border between Richmond Hill and Kew Gardens is placed as far south as Hillside Avenue or Myrtle Avenue then Richmond Hill the hill would be in Kew Gardens! Historic Richmond Hill would be in Kew Gardens.

my family moved to kew gardens in 1947 when i was 6 years old and we lived there until 1965, it was and still remains a very special neighborhood, i and many of my friends can't thank you enough for the amazing effort and work you have done by helping us remember our past and the magic of our youth.

This is a fantastic and glorious site on the Kew Gardens Community. The work, effort and organization are superb!
