George Overbury Hart

George Overbury "Pop" Hart was known at the time of his death in 1933 as the last of the great Bohemian pictorial storytellers. His works were bought by the Metropolitan Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney, the Brooklyn Museum, and the British and South Kensington Museums in London. Although he lived in New Jersey, Hart spent almost every weekend in this house owned by his brother, William C. Hart. Click on the thumbnails below to see early 1920's sketches by Hart of 3 Kew Gardens locales.
The Timothy Jackson Farm House. The Kew Gardens Long Island Railroad Station. The Kew Gardens Country Club.
