A pond of similar size was located in the woods at what is today the intersection of Beverly Road and Park Lane South.
Crystal Lake

Crystal Lake was a pond located west of today's Lefferts Boulevard between what is now Austin and Grenfell Streets. It was a water hazard on the Richmond Hill Golf Course. During winter time, Richmond Hill residents went there to toboggan and ice skate. The Lake was drained in 1909 to make way for the Long Island Railroad tracks and Station House. The golf course became the Kew Gardens housing development.
