Opper's Boulevard Hotel

"The well-known hotel and road house belonging to the late Peter Opper situated on Hoffman [Queens] Blvd. [at 82nd Road] near the entrance to Maple Grove Cemetery, was burned to the ground at 2 o'clock last Monday morning, 20th. ... Mrs. Opper and her family barely escaped with their lives, clad only in their night dresses. The cause of the fire is unknown. The loss on the hotel and its contents is estimated at about $6,000 and on the barn $600."
