The Homestead Hotel

"A neo-Georgian hotel, the Homestead (1921) was built adjacent to the railroad station ... . It was common in those years for the other boroughs to have first class hotels, convenient to the city, where tourists could avoid the expense and the tumult of Manhattan. ... . Here in Kew Gardens the Homestead designed in the style of a grand English country house, served as the community's 'manor house,' providing locals with a restaurant (in the days when hotel restaurants were considered the best eateries in town) ... ."
