Metropolitan Avenue

This is Metropolitan and 83rd Avenues looking toward Lefferts Boulevard one block distant. The house in the foreground would become the home of Frederic T. Youngs, a prominent builder and contractor. In 1915, Youngs and his partner sued the son-in-law of the Mayor of the City of New York to recover a small amount due on the construction of a country home. The result was an opinion by the renowned Judge Benjamin Cardozo, and a case that is today studied by every first year law student.
