The Trolleys

This view is from Metropolitan Avenue and 124th Place looking toward Jamaica. Trolley cars served the major thoroughfares in early Kew Gardens. From 1914 to 1937, the Manhattan & Queens Traction Co., ran trolleys along Queens Boulevard and across the 59th Street bridge to central Manhattan. From 1917 to 1949, Metropolitan Avenue trolleys, operated by the Brooklyn Rapid Transit Co., ran into Brooklyn.
