As these side by side pictures clearly show, we are looking at the Cuthbert Road entrance to the Homestead Building at the corner of Lefferts Avenue (Boulevard). The sepia picture shows an empty Cuthbert Road and the Long Island Railroad tracks running off into the distance.  The Kew Gardens of this time was mostly open fields and patches of woodland.
