Overlook at Forest Park

Included in Parks Commission Squier's purchase of Forest Park was 15 acres at today's Park Lane and Union Turnpike in Kew Gardens. The sellers were John and Frederick Backus, sons of the largest landowner in "Whitepot" (present day Forest Hills). Known as the "Overlook", it is the site of the headquarters of the Queens Borough Department of Parks.
