Home of Daniel Nye
In 1916, the manufacturers of white pine lumber took out a magazine advertisement extolling the virtues of homes built with their product - a wood they claimed was both economical and durable. The ad was accompanied by a picture of the new Abingdon Road, Kew Gardens home of attorney, Daniel Nye - a home built, of course, with white pine. Unfortunately, however well the Nye house may have withstood the elements, it could not withstand the developers' wrecking ball to which it eventually fell.
