Home of Alrick Man

The circa 1900 picture shows the home of Alrick Man (1858 - 1934), known as the Squire of Kew Gardens. It stood on the east side of Church Street (118th Street) at Curzon Road. Man's father, Albon Man, founded Richmond Hill. After Albon's death in 1891, Alrick took over management of the family properties. It was Alrick Man who oversaw the development of Kew Gardens through the Kew Gardens Corporation.
