Home of James Forge

James Forge (pronounced "For-gee") was an consulting engineer of Scottish descent brought here from London in 1903 to work on construction of the East River railroad tunnel. He also worked on the Holland Tunnel, the Hudson Tubes, and canals, tunnels and dams throughout the U.S. and Mexico. One neighbor recalled:
[Forge] was also head of a Scotch club that spent winter hours at the game of curling on Crystal Lake. It was fun to watch them in their kilts and tams, sliding those great round stones."
I think the neighbor meant to say a "Scots'" or "Scottish" Club since "Scotch" Club might give entirely the wrong idea of what the club was about.  (Then again, maybe it wouldn't.)
