Beverly Road

In a sense, it is a misnomer to describe this collection of vintage pictures as "old" Kew Gardens. These are pictures of Kew Gardens when it was young and - like all things young - still rough around the edges. The sepia tone photograph to the left shows Beverly Road looking east past Lefferts Boulevard. The photograph was taken long before the Beverly House Apartments (on the north side of the street) and the Kew Beverly Apartments (on the south side) were built. If you look closely, you will see that in 1910, these properties were still vacant lots. The house in the right foreground is gone, as are the dirt roads, but most everything else is still there.
