The Greenhouses
Pictures dated 1936 and 2001 (click to enlarge)

Today, the southeast corner of Kew Gardens Road and Lefferts Boulevard is the site of the P.S. 99 annex.  In the early days of Kew Gardens, it was the site of greenhouses run by Margaret Petersen who bought the land in 1886.  She started with 1 greenhouse and ended with 7.  Her greenhouses supplied flowers for local funerals and for visitors to Maple Grove Cemetery.
