Click on the picture to the right to view a 1936 panoramic photograph of Queens Boulevard spanning west to east. You will see that Borough Hall and the Criminal Court have not yet been built, and there are trolley tracks along the median. Note also the absence of much of the residential and commercial development we see today. The opening of the Interborough Parkway in 1935 and Independent Line subway stop at Union Turnpike in 1936 would soon change that.
