"Kew Hall was the first major apartment building to go up in the heart of the new community. Covering over half a block, it followed the Dakota Apartment plan [built 1883, on Manhattan's upper west side] of an interior garden court and multiple entrances from the court so there would be only two floor-through apartments per landing."
