Kew Gardens General Hospital

"The old Kew Gardens Hotel, formerly the Kew Gardens Inn, will cease on Jan. 1 [1941] to function as a hostelry and enter into a new career as the Kew Gardens General Hospital. [A spokesman] said yesterday that the twenty-year career of the hotel, which was a favorite suburban gathering place for the residents of the Metropolitan area, finally came to an end as a result of changed conditions, which are transforming Queens into an urban community. The same conditions, he said, created a demand for a hospital, and the accessibility of this location made it the logical one for the new enterprise."
