Right of Way

In 1906, the Long Island Railroad and North Richmond Hill needed each other. The railroad needed a right of way for its new electrified main line.  The Man Family (owners of North Richmond Hill) needed a means of quick access to the City that would allow development of what was then just an out of the way golf course. So a deal was struck. The Richmond Hill Golf Course closed in 1907. By 1909, the new tracks had advanced right down the 7th fairway.
